D-Day minus 32, 6 December 2015: Flooding in the Lake District

Absolutely horrendous flooding in the Lake District

We had planned 3 days training in the hills and had a major problem getting to the start point. We were turned back 4 times with flooded roads, so we had to reschedule the day. It was frightening go see the washed out roads and bridges. The river flowing out of Ullswater was immense, and we believe the bridge at Pooley Bridge has been destroyed. It's such a tragedy to see the flooded houses. We climbed Blencathra and the amount of land slips was almost biblical. At the summit we looked over to Saint John Vale and it was a lake instead of a valley!
