D-Day minus 14, 22 December: Packing Skis

Packing skis, but no snow

All we need now is more snow in Norway! The bindings have been mounted, safety releases attached and skins fixed to the bottom of the skis. So they are now packed and ready to go. As you can probably see from the background of the photo we have over 25 pairs of skis in our store; however, on a trip this long, it essential to start with new skis. We'd like to say an enormous thank you to Asnes, the ski manufacturer for their help. In fact it's really interesting that most of our equipment is of Scandinavian origin! Maybe some of our forebears, such as Captain Scott, should have copied the Norwegians more. They certainly understand snowy environments. Next week we will be packing our sleds ready for transport.
